Project Indoor swimming pool
Remote readout technology for an automated water disinfection system with UV sensors
Together with companies from the region, IMMS has put a novel solution for water disinfection with UV radiation into operation in the Ilmenau public indoor swimming pool. The sensor technology of this system is thus no longer only evaluated stationarily, but is connected to the cloud.
Water disinfection in indoor swimming pools – UV instead of chlorine
According to the current state of the art, chlorine compounds, among other things, are used for water disinfection in indoor swimming pools. In order to reduce the chlorine content, the partners have installed a UV medium-pressure reactor for water disinfection in the swimming pool complex. An important component of this solution is the integrated UV sensor system, which permanently monitors the correct function of the UV radiation source. The sensor data is evaluated locally in a special monitoring system, which reports deviations or failures of the UV radiation source to the process control of the swimming centre.
Remote readout of sensor and system data with IMMS solution
An existing data interface on the measuring system of the UV reactor is used to record, immediately evaluate and store the sensor data and system data permanently over longer periods of time in a simple and cost-effective manner.
With the help of the compact and energy-efficient BaseBos industrial PC developed at IMMS in the SHS-Facility project, the data is transmitted to a server via an integrated mobile modem and permanently stored there.
Via a secure internet connection, the data is displayed in browsers on any end devices, such as tablets. The solution not only provides the basis for target/actual comparisons with automatic notifications in case of deviations, but also the basis for long-term analyses and predictive maintenance of plant components.
