It is possible to start working at IMMS with good German and/or English language skills.

As we mainly conduct research for German companies, a good knowledge of German is important for a long-term scientific position with us. We therefore organise German courses for our scientific team if required.

Ilmenau or Erfurt, it depends on the work content. Please note the sites of the institutes on the Ilmenau TU campus or in Erfurt near the tram stop "Windischholzhausen/X-FAB".

You can find more information at Sites.

Mobile working is possible to a certain extent and depending on the specific work content by agreement. For a number of research and development solutions, you will have a lot to do with hardware and test equipment, which we can only keep in Ilmenau or Erfurt.

In general, we prefer to have you regularly on site in our team. Together we explore new solutions with you and the devil is usually in the detail. Short distances and group dynamics are the best way to make progress.

Every job advertisement on our website or on portals is linked to our online application platform. Applications are only possible via this platform and can be accessed via the Online application button.

There are two options – a student assistant position (student assistant) or a part-time position alongside your Masters degree programme.

If your interests and skills match the tasks and requirements of our current research and development projects and you can work on site in Ilmenau or Erfurt alongside your studies, it is possible to work as a student assistant. In most cases, you and we can best assess this after you have been supervised by us during your mandatory internship and/or your Bachelors thesis.

Depending on your specialist expertise, the content of the project, project deadlines and proximity to Ilmenau or Erfurt, it is possible to combine scientific work at IMMS on a flexible part-time basis with a Master’s qualification after completing your Bachelor’s degree.

This parallel training on the job in a dynamic environment networked with industry is ideal for a career start in application-oriented research and paves the way for a career at IMMS, for a PhD or entry into industry.

IMMS is a Land-owned limited company of the German Land of Thüringen. Remuneration at IMMS is therefore based on the framework conditions of public service of the German regions (Bundesländer): TVL.
