We conduct research to harness cutting-edge results from science for industry. Through application-oriented developments we strengthen industry's competitiveness with innovations. Developments with industry in turn reveal the need and challenges for novel approaches, which we address in our research fields.
To achieve this, we work in interdisciplinary teams and with research partners such as the Ilmenau TU and with local, national and international research organisations and technology providers. Thereby, compliance with our rules for ensuring good scientific practice is a matter of course.

Integrated sensor systems
Here we investigate miniaturised systems manufactured in semiconductor technology consisting of microelectronic components for sensors applications, as well as methods to design these highly complex systems efficiently and safely.

Integrated sensor ICs are the heart of sensor and measurement systems like wireless sensors, stationary or handheld devices. We are researching solutions for ever more powerful sensors with more intrinsic intelligence and task allocation in the network.

To enable the manufacturing of macroscopic high-tech products with microscopic precision, we are researching scientific principles and technical solutions for nanopositioning systems for large motion ranges.
