”For a next-generation terahertz camera, Supracon’s own capacities in the resolution of such a sophisticated technical problem were very much complemented by IMMS’ long experience in the development of highly efficient drive systems.“

”We at Supracon are most grateful that the TESCA project has gone so well. It involved the development of a scanning device for a next-generation terahertz camera; our partners in the project were IMMS in Ilmenau and the KVB at Chemnitz University of Technology. The new system makes it possible to carry out safety checks over even quite long distances (5– 40 m). The familiar solutions used to date in airports operate only over shorter distances.

IMMS designed and created an actuator for the system under investigation which includes in its design special voice coil actuation, energy storage based on magnetic springs and an adaptive control algorithm. Supracon’s own capacities in the resolution of such a sophisticated technical problem were very much complemented by IMMS’ long experience in the development of highly efficient drive systems.

Currently, discussions are taking place on how to implement the product under development for a customer’s system which will require some adaptation of the new drive. We are aiming to continue the sort of highly efficient, targeted cooperation that we have had so far with IMMS.“
