ASIC development: Layout Design

Your responsibilities

  • Layout of integrated analog and mixed-signal circuits in CMOS technologies
  • Quality assurance of layouts (layout verification, performance of design reviews)


  • University degree or university of applied sciences degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field of study, or completed vocational training with proven relevant professional experience in an industrial environment
  • Ability to design compact and high-performance full-custom layouts for integrated analog and mixed-signal circuit blocks
  • Detailed knowledge of the Cadence layout design environment Virtuoso/Virtuoso XL and the Cadence layout verification flow (DRC, LVS, Parasitic Extraction)
  • Understanding of CMOS processes (bulk and SOI) with respect to the electrical function of devices, parasitic effects, manufacturing and reliability aspects
  • Ability to cooperate and work in a team
  • Independence, initiative, systematic working style
  • Good language skills in German or English

Desirable qualifications

  • Experience with mixed-signal ASIC floor planning and top-level layout
  • Knowledge of analog and RF microelectronic circuit technology (e.g. operational and transimpedance amplifiers, A/D converters, LNA, VCO etc.) and optoelectronics (photodiodes, SPADs, pixel arrays etc.)
  • Experience in layout design with Cadence Custom IC 6.1
