RF circuit engineering

In the technical department radio-frequency circuit engineering integrated circuits for radio data transmission in the frequency range of some 100 MHz up to currently 5 GHz are designed and tested. The work comprises a wide spectrum from design of individual RF specific components over the development of RF modules as LNAs and VCOs to transmitter and receiver-circuits. At the metrological characterization and development of evaluation boards we are in close cooperation with the technical department IEM.

 

Our competencies:

  • Design, optimization, characterization and modelling of RF specific components (integrated inductors, varactors)
  • Design of RF modules (LNAs, Mixers, PAs, VCOs, Prescaler, PLLs, …)
  • Design of complete RF-circuits (PLLs, transmitters, receivers)

 

Our main research areas are:

  • Higher working frequencies owing to modern integration technologies
  • Increasing the integration degree by integration of up to now external components
  • Integration of case and board modelling into circuit design, modelling of systems-in-package
