Structuring, assembly, adjustment and measurement of objects by means of microsystem-technological equipments today requires almost always highest precision at always shorter clock cycles, higher path velocities and higher path accuracies. The trend aims at positioning uncertainties of only a few nanometers at travel distances of some 100 mm. Owing to the increasing requirements, conventionally structured drive systems to an increasing degree have met their limits.
